Semester One Grades - Updated

simon — Tue, 07/08/2008 - 15:59

My final grades for semester one are starting to filter back in and I have to say I'm pretty happy with how I've gone.  This is the first semester that I've studied both externally and on-campus, and with the overlapping dates, something that I was quite concerned about, I seem to have had it under control (the constant hair-pulling aside while attempting to balance my calendar!).  The grades so far include: (updates to this post in red)

REL22: Buddhist Meditaton Traditions.

Essay One: HD
Essay Two HD

Overall: HD

PHI350: Philosophy and Cinema.

Tutorial Participation: HD
Journal: HD
Film Review: D
Final Essay: HD

Overall: HD

ABT31: Comparative Indigenous Studies.

Academic Religious Studies

simon — Sun, 05/25/2008 - 11:34

It's been a while since I've posted here so today I hope to have a few new items to offer.  One Friday I received my second essay for REL22: Budhist Meditation Traditions in the post.  I received another HD.  I'm beginning to wonder if an academic study of religion is where I should focus my post-grad studies.  I've never received anything less than a HD for religion and it's one of the two subjects (the other being Aisan Studies) that I've received 100% over-all.

REL22 Weeks One and Two

simon — Tue, 03/11/2008 - 13:18

I've just finished the content for week two of REL22: Buddhist Meditation Traditions and it's actually been quite fascinating.  I do have to reiterate, however, that I'm a little disappointed that Peter Friendlander is no longer taking the course.  Peter's taken a position at NUS Singapore so Professor Greg Bailey is taking the course this semester.  I've not had any contact with Greg yet so I can't offer any comments upon how that aspect of the course will develop but it still remains that Peter is a great teacher and will be sorely missed.

Semester One 2008

simon — Fri, 02/22/2008 - 14:52

Today I received some of the materials for units I'm taking this semester/Study Period.

In semester one I'm studying PHIL2300: Ethics & the Passions @ the University of Queensland which looks like a promising course.  No materials for that yet as it's an 'on campus' unit.  I'll be starting that one on Wednesday the 27th.
